Why I Started The Reclaimed Therapist

I started The Reclaimed Therapist on Substack to support women. If you've spent any time on my website, you've probably noticed that much of my work centers around helping women stop losing themselves in relationships. Whether it's codependency, people-pleasing, trauma bonds, attachment wounds, or the exhaustion that comes from constantly putting everyone else's needs ahead of their own, these patterns often run much deeper than simple habits. They become ways of surviving.
As a therapist, I have the privilege of helping clients navigate these challenges every day. What I often find is that healing doesn't happen in a single session or from one insight alone. Growth unfolds over time through reflection, practice, setbacks, and small moments of courage that gradually create lasting change.
The desire to continue that conversation beyond the therapy room is what led me to create The Reclaimed Therapist on Substack.
The Reclaimed Therapist is a space where I write about the topics I am most passionate about: attachment, trauma, relationships, emotional healing, nervous system regulation, boundaries, recovery, personal growth, and the process of reclaiming yourself after years of self-abandonment.
Some articles are educational, while others draw from my own experiences as a therapist, a woman in recovery, and someone who has spent years doing her own healing work.
My goal is not to offer quick fixes or perfect answers. Instead, I hope to provide thoughtful reflections, practical tools, and honest conversations about what healing actually looks like. In my experience, growth is rarely linear. It is often messy, uncomfortable, and deeply rewarding.
You will find articles about trauma bonds, attachment wounds, codependency, emotional burnout, people-pleasing, nervous system regulation, ketamine-assisted therapy, recovery, grief, self-trust, and learning how to create healthier relationships with yourself and others. I also share personal stories and reflections because healing is not something I simply teach. It is something I continue to practice in my own life.
Many readers tell me they appreciate having a place where they can continue learning between therapy sessions or explore concepts they may not be ready to discuss in therapy yet. Others simply enjoy knowing they are not alone in what they are experiencing.
If you enjoy the articles and resources on this website, I invite you to join me on Substack. You'll find deeper conversations about relationships, emotional health, trauma recovery, personal growth, and the ongoing work of reclaiming yourself.
Because healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about reclaiming yourself. It is about recognizing the patterns that once helped you survive, while building the courage to create something different moving forward.
You can subscribe to The Reclaimed Therapist and receive new articles directly in your inbox. Whether you are beginning your healing journey or have been doing this work for years, I hope the words you find there help you feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
I look forward to seeing you there.
